Marketing Assistant

75 hours @ $20/hr​

July 8 to August 15, 2024: This is a temporary contract position for the period leading up to and during the Guelph Fringe Festival, taking place August 8-11, 2024.
​

The Marketing Assistant will report to the Marketing Coordinator.

​

Job Outline:

The Guelph Fringe Festival is seeking a dynamic and creative Marketing Assistant to join our team and play a key role in promoting the festival. The Marketing Assistant will provide strategic and tactical support to ensure the success of the festival through effective marketing initiatives. This individual will work closely with the festival organizers, artists, sponsors, and the community to enhance the visibility and reach of the Guelph Fringe Festival.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the volunteer Communications Coordinator, develop and implement a comprehensive marketing plan to promote the Guelph Fringe Festival, including digital, social media, print, and grassroots outreach strategies.

  • Create engaging content for social media platforms, website, email newsletters, and press releases to generate excitement and interest in the festival.

  • Coordinate with graphic designers, photographers, and videographers to produce high-quality promotional materials that showcase the festival and its events.

  • Collaborate with local media outlets, influencers, and bloggers to secure coverage and partnerships that increase awareness of the festival.

  • Manage the festival's online presence, including monitoring social media channels, and tracking analytics to measure the effectiveness of marketing efforts.

  • Assist in coordinating promotional events, contests, and ticket giveaways to engage with the community and attract attendees to the festival.

  • Provide regular updates on marketing activities, budget management, and performance metrics to the festival organizers.

  • Support the festival team, prior to and during the festival, by coordinating marketing logistics, such as signage, merchandising, photography, social media updates, and on-site promotions.

  • Other responsibilities may be as assigned as needed to support the festival.

  • Submit a final report by August 15, 2024, with recommendations for future consideration.

 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in marketing, event promotion, or public relations.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Creative thinker with a passion for the arts and community engagement.

  • Proficiency in social media management, content creation, and digital marketing tools.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of the Guelph arts scene and/or experience working with festivals is an asset.

  • Must be available in Guelph during the festival, August 8-11, 2024.
